Craft Enthusiast: Ashmita Roy

Hello Craftpreneurs,
We feel so good to talk about such creative talented crafters around us who truly allow us to have a little sneak peak into their lifes, sharing their creative works and platforms for everyone to get inspired, learn and be motivated …today we have with us ”Craft Enthusiast of the Week : Ashmita Roy ” whose love for crafting kept growing since childhood, managing to find alternatives for different materials for creating something creative. She thinks to be crazy about crafting and is still going on...........There’s lot more to know about her journey and her passion for crafting in her own words…as well as some of her amazing projects she had worked upon!

This is what Ashmita speaks about her journey as a crafter and her story of being a craftpreneur….
I have always loved paper and paper crafting, even as a kid I would create cards and flowers and do origami and work with clay anything creative. Getting material back then was difficult so I used to get inventive using magazine papers for pattern paper and m seal for clay, there was always a bottle of Fevicol and a pair of scissors in my school bag. I just was crazy about crafting.
How it’s all started? (My Crafting Journey!)
After I got married I wanted to create a scrapbook for capturing my wedding and honey moon photos as from there the journey began to create scrapbook and albums.

What Inspired me?
I was very inspired by YouTube and the crafting mentors like Kathy Orta from Paper Phenomenon and Laura from following the paper trail and DIY guru Martha Stewart. Their work was an introduction into a whole new world of professional crafting using proper tools and materials and finish.
My Most Favourite Crafts of All?
My Signature work are the Accordion Tag Box which is my copyrighted artwork. As well as the travel journals that I create in my signature style.

Some of my other popular work are Piano Album, Books In A Book Hat With Moving Parts etc
My style of crafting?
I prefer to mostly work with paper and I love to create in a vintage style. I love to create mini albums and scrapbooks. But I also love to create cards and flower making. I also sell my jewellery professionally and jewellery making another passion of mine.

My Future Plans?
I wish to create more video classes for my website www.artsomecraft.com that are more diverse , bring more variety in the content with worth different materials and projects.
I also wish to sell my jewellery online!
Message for all Crafters!

    1. If At First You Don’t Succeed Try Try Again!
I always work on paper first, I have a notebook where I work everything out on packet first before I start cutting things up as this believe me saves a lot of time, work and material. It’s always better to have a blueprint on paper before you get started.
