Altered Shadow Box by Smita Singh

Hello Craft Lover’s,
Myself Smita and I am very happy to share my first entry for February month blog challenge by Prika. Theme for the month was “colour splash” as it was month of festival which represents bright & beautiful colours of Holi❣️
Crafting is always fun and I love creating beautiful things… But when u pick something from scrap and create something beautiful & useful it gives u imminse satisfaction.

Here is an altered project. I made this shadow box with my sons board game box. This shadow box can be hanged on wall of kitchen or your kids room. It has clips with which u can hang photographs or important notes… And beauty of this shadow box is that u can keep changing the pics or notes
Let’s see the steps I followed to create the same.
Step.1: First I took the box which is to be recreated.

Step.2: Now I applied two coats of gesso on it.

Step.3: Then I used mix media paste to give texture on the side & top of box. I used floral Stencil for this and created a floral frame on box. Then I used lot of yellow and other bright colours and used dry brush technique to give it brighter look.

Step.4: I decided to do decoupage on middle portion of the box… I selected this design of house and cycle to give depth to my project.
Step.5: After sticking tissue with mod podge I merged it with base colour… On top I created clouds to give my project three dimensional look.
Step.6: After merging it using brick Stencil I made hole on both side to tie the multi color thread.

Step.7: Finally I tied the thread and fixed small hanging clips to it.

My Altered colourful shadow box is ready…
I hope you liked this project, please do leave comments and clap for appreciation and feedback….
