This is what Kavitha speaks about her journey, some of her favourite projects done in past...and about her creative journey so far...

Hello craft people,

This is Kavitha from Chennai. It all started as a holiday activity, we use to make some fun creative stuffs with cousins and friends during school holidays.

How it’s all started? (My crafting Journey)

Till my school days it was only a hobby and my sisters and friends taught me to make small craft items. It was during college days we a got a two days workshop from professionals of “Fevicryl” brand, we did some basic fabric and glass paintings and that got me hooked.

What Inspired me?

I always wanted to be in a creative field like fashion designing or music related, crafting was only my hobby. So after finishing my degree I went for fashion designing course as well weekend music classes and there I met my first art teacher “Amudha” ma'am. The way she paints and talks about different art forms of our country fascinated me and I  took few classes from her.Just after few months I felt that painting was my thing and I wanted to pursue it further, and from there my search began, I found some really great art teachers and I learnt various art forms from them like oil painting, pencil sketching, glass/fabric paintings etc and within a year I started my own classes as well and since then there was no looking back.My crafting journey took many turns, my interest kept changing, I kept doing different things like teaching, running a craft store, designing for national and international companies but my love for art stills stays the same.

My Most favourite crafts of all?

Currently its card making, I call it little pieces of art.Its so challenging and satisfying at the same time to work in such a small space which I feel improve my ability of composing a design and adding details.

My style of crafting?

I have tried my hands on over fifty art forms so far, so I don’t believe in having a particular style. One thing I concentrate is  the details I give to my project,I feel that’s what make each art and artist unique. Currently I love making cards and albums as well as mixed media.

My Future Plans?

As I said my interest keeps changing  and I have many dreams ,plans and goals ,but currently I am in phase of figuring out whats next.I am sure it will be as exciting as it was all these years.
