"Free Like a Butterfly" Stencil Art by CI Kirti Gupta

I want to be free.. Free like a butterfly...She said to herself.
Her aspirations got wings and She flew with courage in this taken world.

Only a woman who has desire to fly free can be herself in this taken world. This Stencil art is ovation to every such woman out there.

Hey guys,

Kirti here with my first blog post for Prika with an inspiration project for September ’19 Blog Challenge theme-Bees, Birds & Butterflies. In the coming posts you will surely read about my interpretation of other elements too...

When I had the theme of bees, birds and butterflies in my mind, The words free like a butterfly was echoing in my mind. And then I had this stencil by Craftreat (who is also our sponsor for the month) in my hands, and all I could visualise was a free woman in this taken world. Flowers & Butterfly element sheets by Prika were just perfect to add the feminine charm to my project.

I have made a step wise tutorial for you guys.

Check out the material I have used:
  •          Prika Shadow Box 8x8inch
  •          Prika Flowers
  •          Prika Butterfly elements sheet
  •          Craftreat Stencil
  •          Distress ink (aged mahogany & black soot)
  •          Faber-castel Acrylic colors
  •          Mont Marte Gesso
  •          Chipboard 8x8 inch
  •          Basic crafting & colouring tools

Step.1:
I have applied a good coat of gesso on my chipboard.

Step.2: Then then I started creating background. The beautiful blend of colours with dry brushing the acrylic colours was the technique I have used. (check out pic to see the shades of colours I have used)

Step.3: The colours blended beautifully giving the pigmented look to my background. (here is the close up look)

Step.4: After this I distressed the borders with aged mahogany distress ink.

Step.5: Then I prepared the dress by first tracing it on cartridge paper and then colouring it with watercolour. I also added some white, black & golden splatter on the dress to add some accents.

Step.6: I added the dimension to the dress by grooving it with grooving tool & by adding double sided foam tape in the central part of dress.

Step.7: Then I stencilled the quote with black acrylic paint and outlined the lady.

Step.8: Finally I added the dress and finished my project by embellishing it with Flowers   by Prika & butterfly Elements sheets by Prika.

Step.9: Lastly, I have stick my project in the shadow box frame by Prika and tadaa!

Its here :)

Hope you enjoyed going through this post and feel inspired to create something for yourself as a reminder-

Be yourself, everyone else is taken!

Hugs,
Kirti
