Craft Enthusiast of the Week : Shikha Goel + Envelope Making Inspiration

Hello Craftpreneur's,

Our most exciting day is here again.. yes another lovely day talking about some wonderful stories of crafting around us...let's catch with today's featured crafter..." Craft Enthusiast of the Week : Shikha Goel" .... based in Faridabad, Haryana...steals some time from her motherhood to spend some time with her creativity...She is inspired by amazing creations on many social media platforms and love to try them out in her own style...Let's quickly dig in to know more about the crafting journey of our featured crafter for the day...

This is what Shikha speaks about her journey, some of her favourite projects done in past...and about her creative journey so far...

Hi Crafters !! I am Shikha Goel, based in Faridabad. I am a mother to a 2 year old who demands a lot of time and energy. however, because of my passion and love for craft, I take out time to learn new techniques and make new projects on daily basis.

How it’s all started? (My crafting Journey)

My craft Journey has been quite interesting. It started After my daughter was born (though i was always and art and craft person) Craft became a stress buster for me. I was always making or learning through other craft friends and youtube. Soon it became my obsession and i also started getting orders. This is how i professionally entered the craft industry. And since then there has been no looking back.

What Inspired Me?

Pinterest, Youtube, Instagram I can say since I was amazed to see how vast the field was. how a simple tissue paper can be used to make the most beautiful of things, or how beautifully one can use a paper in different ways, or a thread for that matter. thinking out of the box and creating something magical with the simplest of things inspires me to make more and more projects. And most importantly each and every crafter inspires me.

My most favourite crafts of all?

My style of crafting?

I enjoy many forms of arts, however scrapbooking and envelopes has been my favourite. these days I am obsessed with stamping and distress inks!

My Future Plans?

I plan to keep exploring, learning and become a renowned name in the industry.

Message for all Craft Buddies?

Take inspiration but never copy, create your own style. and most importantly love what you make.

A Quick Inspiration : “ Envelope Making Tutorial "

I recently made an envelope which I loved using Distress ink and stencils.
Steps are as follow:

Step.1: I used Iris Paper, 270gsm. On a craft mat I smooshed some distress ink and sprayed water on it and then run the paper through that ink and heat set it. Then using a stencil I blended distress ink on the sides.

Step.2: Now I mixed texture paste with distress ink and created a texture using the stencil, once it was dry, I again blended some distress ink on it.

Step.3: To embellish the envelope, I also made some flowers using die from DMC, pasted them with glue gun and added few pearls and finished with a congratulations tag.
