This is what Hemali speaks about her journey, some of her favourite works done in past...and about her creative space...

Hi everyone, I am Hemali Shah from Jamnagar Gujrat. I have done my graduation with Interior Designing. Since childhood I was inclined to art and craft so I choose designing as my profession. I am basically from Rajkot, after marriage I have settled at Jamnagar. I have two beautiful princess. After been second time mother I have to leave my practice as an Interior Designer.

I have been crafting since childhood. I learned ceramic work, traditional mural, glass painting, oil painting, quilling etc.. I was doing one or other thing with my studies. After being mother for second time, I choose to stay at home and look after my kids. But artistic worm inside me didn’t allow me to
stop. I used to watch different art forms on YouTube and then again I started with mixed media and
scrapbooking.

How it’s all started? (My crafting Journey)

When I choose to stay at home mother I used to search videos of different art forms. Through social media I came to know about mixed media and scrapbooking. It clicked in my mind and before 2 years I made my first scrapbook. Then I learned mixed media and decoupage. Then it was difficult to stop me. Learning is still in progress.

What inspired me?

Crafters around the world, DT members of national and International brands inspired me a lot. I used to watch their videos on YouTube and blogs. Social media like Facebook and Instagram also inspired and helped me to become a renowned crafter.

My most favourite crafts of all?

It is very difficult to choose one or two projects for any crafter. It’s like you have to choose from pool of your art work. Though most favourite is altered mini heart.

Some more which are very near to my heart are:

My style of crafting?

I am madly in love with Mixed Media and altered art. I feel so good when I give new life to old and useless things.

My future plans?

There are no serious future plans but one thing is sure I want to create more and more beautiful art work and learning process should be continue. And of course I want to share my knowledge with others.

Message for all craft Buddies?

I would like to say to all craft buddies that always believe in yourself. Never lose faith on god and do what makes you happy. Happiness is the key to success. Master piece always comes from happy soul.

A quick Inspiration : “ Altered Empty Gesso Jar "

“ What do you guys do with empty gesso jar? Either you through it or you refill it. Here I will show you how to alter it with mixed media and make a beautiful art piece.

First of all take an empty jar. It can be of anything. I have used gesso jar.

Then apply 2 coats of heavy white gesso.

Then give some layer with stencil and texture paste. I have used white crackle paste through stencil.
And random here and there also. Then I coloured whole jar with lindy's gang spray paint. You can use any of your choice.

Then I used some embellishments, (wooden, resin, metal) pearl drops , thread , and natural sea shell.
Yes my focal point on jar cap is a big natural sea shell which I had in my stash.
Now arrange everything and give more texture to remaining space with art stones and glitter beats. At
last final touch of colour on art stones and lastly I applied pearl spray on whole jar.

Tadaa altered jar is ready. Here are some close ups.

I hope you like this idea. Try out and don’t forget to tag me. Thank you so much for stopping by.
