This is what Smita speaks about her journey as a crafter and her story of being a craftpreneur….
Before sharing my story first I would like to thank Priyanka for giving me opportunity to share my crafter journey. She was very encouraging and supportive.
Hello everyone I am Smita. I was born and brought up at beautiful town Shahdol (M.P.) I am post graduate in Organic Chemistry and worked as lecturer in Collage. I was very passionate about art and craft since childhood. Other than craft I also love travelling and listening songs. Apart from that I was also active sports person during my school and college days. Now I am based in Banglore and mother of two wonderful kids. I am happy homemaker and with support and encouragement of my parents and husband I am full time crafter now.
Her First Step to Crafting:
Since my childhood I was very passionate about art and craft. I used to take part in various art and craft related activities during my school and college days I won several prizes. I was always keen to learn new type of art form. With the time my passion for crafting has grown. I used to paint whenever I get free time and make projects for my kid’s school. As I enjoyed it a lot I decided to convert my passion into my profession and now I am a full time crafter who is balancing her family commitments with her love i.e. craft.
Her Inspiration:
I was always conscious about the activities happening around me and in society which influences my art and craft work. I seek inspiration from art work done by famous artist and love visiting art gallery and exhibitions. I love admiring and getting inspired by beautiful work done by others. My mother was also interested in various art forms. Her creativity inspired me to a great extent since my childhood.
Her Most Favourite:
As an artist I always feel that your work cannot be confined in boundaries. I love learning and doing various art forms. But painting is closest to my heart. When I paint I am in my own world of beautiful colours. I practice water colours ,acrylic ,oil ,glass painting, Madhubani and Mandala art.Other than painting I also love to do lots of decoupage ,mix media and paper crafting.
Her Style of Crafting:
My style of crafting is traditional as well as contemporary. I love simple and beautiful projects.
Future Plans:
I feel that for an artist growth learning should never stop. I want to learn more and more art forms. Being a sports person my principle in life is never give up. One day I wish to open my own art studio where I can share my knowledge with others.
Message for All:
I would like to say that love what you do and do what you love .I feel patience is key to success for all the artist. Hard work always pays. So keep doing good work with full honesty and dedication and don’t forget to appreciate others good work.
