She loves being a card maker and experimenting about new styles every day... super motivating and positive in life of what she does.... Let's quickly scroll below to know more about the crafting journey of our featured crafter for the month...

Here's what Raga speaks about her journey, some of her favourite projects done in past...and about her creative journey so far...

Hello Everyone, This is Raga Senthil, widely known as Perky Raga in the crafting community. I’m from Chennai currently staying at Gurgaon, India with my husband and two kids. I’m a degree holder in computer applications and I’m the first graduate in my family. Now, I’m a stay at home mom, freelancer and takes art/craft classes for kids.  I’m passionate about arts and crafts since my childhood. Though I did not go to any art/craft class, I had an efficient art/craft teacher at school who introduced us to various craftworks like flower-making, paper decors, wire art, recycling crafts, etc., that cultivated a strong motor skill and creative thinking. I love to sketch and draw at times. It's all started with my Brother. He is a good artist, and I was inspired by him. I had watched his real-time painting processes many times, that it shed my fears away to try my hand at drawing first when I was 8 yrs old. I was attracted to kolams/rangolis and had two long-size notebooks filled with innovative kolams. Lately, I’m busy creating my own illustrations on my Ipad. Painting on Procreate Pro is my recent addiction.

How it’s all started? (My crafting Journey)

After a point, where I had to concentrate on studies so art and craft become secondary, hardly I could spend time. Once I finished my degree, I got married and had a daughter. When she was in Nursery, then my passion for crafting started again in making her prepared for various competitions with props. I came across silk-thread jewellery on browsing and tried my hands on it. I still love to make them. Then, I came across so many wonderful card makers and designers on Instagram, my card making journey begun there.  It has been two years now, but no looking back. I just love making cards and made many new like-minded friends too.

What Inspired me?

Paru Mahtani from Paru’s card making challenge Inspired me a lot and her blog posts gave me an idea about stamping, all the stamp companies, and various designers/card makers. Nowadays, I draw inspiration from almost anything that surrounds me and I believe that inspiration can come from anywhere.

My Most favourite crafts of all?

I only do what I love to. So all of my creations are in my favourite lists. You can check out my Instagram handle / YouTube Channel for my works. Still, I would like to spot a few of my interactive projects here.

My style of crafting?

Though I love to experiment with all styles, I’m a bit inclined towards a Clean and Simple style. You can see my hand-drawn images with a lovely message in almost all of my cards. Otherwise, I love to make fun Interactive cards because I love to surprise people.

My Future Plans?

I have just started my own YouTube channel for crafting a couple of months ago, where I’m sharing tutorials on my interactive card ideas, colouring tips/tricks for beginners, details of craft supplies, etc. I want to grow my YouTube Channel thereby sharing my knowledge and creativity with like-minded people.

Message for all Craft Buddies!!

Push Yourself to move forward because no one else will come and do it for you. Also, don't peek into other's works and compare their growth with yours. Every expert is once a beginner. Just do what you love and you can always create wonders with minimal supplies. Do you know that minimal supplies keep your mind so creative?

A quick Inspiration : “Slim line motivational card | Cracked Glass Technique Explained"

Materials Required:

I took a side folding card base and a front panel from Prika’s Iris smooth card stock of dimension 3 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches.

Step 1: I die-cut two tags from Winnie and Walter essential cutaways, stack them up and transformed it into a mason jar by freehand drawing and trim of the unwanted area.

Step 2: I stamped the small butterfly from Neat and Tangled ’so foxy’ stamp set using mirror reflection stamping technique.

Step 3: I coloured the butterflies and the mason jar using Hero arts soft grey and Black soot distress inks. I also, color the edges with Black copic Marker. These butterflies inside the jar are in black to relate with those who underestimate their power within themselves.

Step 4: I applied Versafine watermark ink all over the mason jar and heat set it with Nuvo clear embossing powder. I repeat this process for about 5 to 6 times.

Step 5: Here is the look, after heat setting the jar with 5 layers of Nuvo clear embossing powder. Now, Keep this in freezer for about 5 to 10 minutes.

(Honestly, I got the some smudges and heat mark unexpectedly, but I love the way it adds drama to my card to convey the message strongly. So I decide to keep it.)

Step 6: Meanwhile, we can prepare the background using distress oxides inks, the Mowed Lawn for the grass, Squeezed Lemonade for the glow effect around the mason jar and Tumbled Glass for the sky. I lifted some inks with a damp cloth randomly to create the clouds, also water splattered with a paintbrush to add more interests.

Step 7: After letting the mason jar to sit in freezer for about 5 minutes, I took it out and started to crack it. I’m so please with the results. The cracks look absolutely amazing. Ain't they?!

Step 8: I arranged up all the elements on to the ink blended front panel and glued down the same.

Step 9: I finish off my card by adhering it to the card base. A beautiful Slim line card is ready.

I also, have a video tutorial for this card. Here goes the link,

Hope you all enjoyed watching my process. Always remember that you are stronger than you think. If you believe in yourself, you can come out with flying colours just like these colourful butterflies. Never, ever underestimate the power of you. Sending you all lots of love.
