Altered Diwali Door Signs (Shubh-Labh) by CI Kirti Gupta

Hello Lovely People..
Kirti This side, hope you all had super fun during Diwali and back to business now.
Though Diwali is over, I still have hangover ;)
I have created something related to Diwali Home decor.

Almost every Indian house adorns their homes with beautiful Bandhanwar & Shubh Labh signs on their doors during festive season. All this decor is usually adorned in traditional colours like bright red, green, and yellow. I too had one in same colour combination. But, whats the use of your fancy craft supplies if you don't put them to re-use your old-boring things :-)

So, here is the make-over of old, boring door-signs to something ethnic and contemporary <3

Here is quick glance at materials

  • Mould-it clay
  • Old Shubh-labh signs
  • Butterfly silicone mould
  • Metallic paints (by Itsy Bitsy)
  • Metallic waxes (by Itsy Bitsy)
  • Black Gesso or Chalk Paint (by Itsy Bitsy)

The procedure was very simple.

Step.1: First I coloured whole signage using black chalk paint.

Step.2: Then I have prepared Flowers using mould it clay.

Step.3: Then I have prepared a butterfly using silicone mould.

Step.4: Later I placed all these on my Base signage in the beautiful layout.

Step.5: Coloured it all Black again (Two coats of black, gave it perfect black finish)

Step.6: Now with the help of sponge I have added first layer of metallic paint (brick wall) in light brush manner

Step.7: Later I added second layer with random touch of metallic waxes

Step.8: For final touch I have used metallic colors and dabbed them lightly with the help of finger on flower and fleur..

And its ready!

I hope you like this, simple, quick and quirky home decor Idea and are already planning  to share your beautiful projects using our Tic-tac-toe for ongoing challenge ..
