"Mixed Media Altered Art" + Video by CI Shweta Tapsi

Hi everyone.

Shweta here on this blog today to share another inspiration project on this month's challenge theme - Make it Bloom.

Today I have for you another altered art project with a video tutorial. I've altered a thick piece of plywood and transformed it into a beautiful home decor. Check out the pictures.

Here's the list of supplies used and the description:
  • Prika- Blossom Blues Handmade flowers pack, Sequins
  • Little Birdie- Soft Gel,Black Gesso, Mixed Media 2-in-1 paste, Silicon Glue
  • Immix- Crackle Texture Paste,Sun Kissed Gold metallic paint, Fairy Dust
  • iCraft- Intense Ocean chalk paint
  • Mudra- Flourish Chipzeb

I started off by covering the entire plywood base with black gesso. I wanted to give a very textured look to this project. Hence used various techniques. First, applied mixed media paste through a stencil at some places. Then applied crackle texture paste here and there. After that mixed some fine sand with soft gel and applied it randomly.

After that, took some die cuts and primed them with black gesso since I was going to use chalk paints on them. Applied the sand mixture on the die cuts too.

After the plywood and the die cuts had dried, again covered everything in black gesso and adhered the die cuts on the base.

Then used a combination of above mentioned chalk paint and metallic paint to colour the project.

Then adhered the handmade flowers and chippies. For some shiny and glittery effect, added sequins and sprinkled fairy dust randomly. Splattered some metallic paint all over. And the project is ready.

Here's the step-by-step video tutorial:

Shweta
