Mixed Media Fridge Magnets + Video by CI Shweta Tapsi Khode

Hello all you beautiful crafters out there!

Shweta here today on Prika blog to share an inspiration project on July challenge theme- 'Perfect Smoosh'. We need to use sprays and inks in our projects.

I have created a set of 3 mixed media fridge magnets to go with the theme, which will be going to my friend as a gift.

I have captured the whole process in a video. See below.

Here's a quick explanation of the process and the list of supplies used:

➤ Little Birdie- White Gesso, Soft Gel Medium, Mixed Media Paste
➤ Immix- sprinkle mists Persimmon, Chimney Smoke, Deco Stones
➤ CrafTangles- Cement Texture Paste
➤ ICraft- Brick Stencil
➤ Distress Inks- Hickory Smoke. Mustard Seed. Worn Lipstick and Majestic Violet Archival Ink for creating handmade flowers
➤ Mudra leaf chippies
➤ Die cuts - DMC dies

I took 3 postcard sized chipboard bases and applied white gesso all over. Then spread cement texture paste on them with a palette knife. This created beautiful rough textures on the bases.

After drying, applied mixed media paste through a stencil for more textures and sprayed all the bases with above mentioned Immix Sprays.

Then dry brushed some white gesso on them.

Then I handmade some flowers and used distress and archival inks to colour them.

After that I assembled everything on the bases. Added some deco stones randomly for interest.
Added sentiments on all three bases and adhered magnets behind each. And the magnets are ready.

I hope my project inspires you to create something beautiful yourself. Do participate in the monthly July Challenge at Prika and get a chance to win some wonderful goodies.

Do let me know how you liked the project.

Love,
Shweta
