"Accordion Birthday Calendar" by Daksha Popat

Hello crafty friends,

I am at Prika’s blog as ‘ Craft Enthusiast of the Week’ and here's a Friday Inspiration Project !!

Today I am sharing an accordion birthday calendar with step by step tutorial with images , but I must tell you in advance that this is a picture heavy post.....

Here's some more closer look of the Project:

Now lets just quickly begin with steps of making...

Step.1: Take two piece of 7"X 7" cardstock of your choice, score at 3/4"&11/2" on all four sides. Now cut four corners as shown in picture and stick with strong tacky tape to form a shadow box kind..

Take two piece of cardstock in 4"x4" size and stick on the open side of shadow box.. prepare both side boxes.

Step.2: For 12 according pockets we need 12 piece of cardstock in size of 4"x8"..score each on 8" side at 2",6".. and fold each like gatefold cards..( see in pic) now stick 1"red tacky tape on two open flaps n join ..see picture.. to get idea. Prepare all 12 like these. Then join together with one after other by removing tacky tape.so will have 12 accordion pockets.

Step.3: To support all 12 accordion pockets I have used cardstock at the base and then joined two boxes on two sides( see picture).I prefer to used red tacky tape as don’t need to hold long but you can use any strong adhesive also.and now accordion box with 12 pockets ready.

Step.4: Now will make 12 flaps for 12 pockets. Take 3.75"X 4:5" cardstock and using punch board I have made tabs on top of all..these 12 flaps will have 12 months calendar on one side n birthday list of that month on other side. Our accordion birthday calendar is ready..and you can decorate as per your choice or style..

To decorate my birthday calendar I have used one of my favourite papers -Mintay papers “celebrations” pack.....after selecting papers I did fussy cutting and layering of papers to decorate both sides.

I have distress all edges n papers with vintage photo distress ink.

Used embellishments, flowers, lace ,pearls, metal legs and sentiments from my stash..I always keep few stamped sentiment ready in my stash..
