Altered Art Journal Cover by DT Jaishree Bansal

Hello Crafters,
Today, I Jaishree Bansal have a step by step tutorial on how to make a beautiful Art Journal Cover with help of some mixed media supplies. You can alter any old diary cover with the help of this tutorial. So without further a due let's get started.

The first step always is to prime the surface. Since my cover was black and I needed a white background, I used heavy white gesso. You may use clear or black gesso as well as per your choice.

Now I used some textured paste to add a floral flourish design with the help of a stencil. You can use any stencil you have for the design.

I wanted to add some grungy wall effect on my background, so I mixed some sprinkle glitz to my texture paste. I applied it with help if a palette knife. This added a very grainy texture to my background.

I primed my chipboard pieces with some heavy white gesso too while my texture paste was drying.

I used a mini doily as a background layer for my focal point and coloured it yellow as per my chosen palette colour.

Using sprinkle mist spray paints, I coloured my brick chipboard.

Then I decided to heat emboss my focal point chipboards, for which I used black for my frame and spiced marmalade  for buddha and flowers.

Once the texture paste dried completely I went in with my spray paints and coloured the background. I used fuchsia to colour the floral designs, citrus yellow for the swirls and created a dusty brown colour by mixing burnt orange and persimmon for the wall.
Finally, I glued all my elements on the cover and stamped here and there to add more layers.
Here are some closer looks of the complete project:

I hope you liked the project and give it a try too, also don't forget to join in the monthly challenge at Prika - "Anything Goes- Embossed"
Until next time
