Hello Craftpreneurs,
Another lovely Tuesday morning with a lovely inspiring story of an craftpreneur. Today we have a multi talented and another mumbaikar crafter with us pursuing lot of creative skills being an interior designer by profession and now a full time crafter……..Craft Enthusiast of the Week…..”Anila Dikay”. Let’s know more about her journey of being a craftpreneur, her passion, and some of her amazing projects she had worked upon.
This is what Anila speaks about her journey as a crafter and her story of being a craftpreneur….
I am Anila Dikay from Mumbai, India. Professionally I am a trained Interior Designer. I have worked in that field for many years. I continue to do some freelance projects of designing places once in a while. I moved on to teaching Art and Craft in a reputed school here in Mumbai, for a few years. Currently, I am a stay-at-home mom and a full time crafter since past one and a half year.
First Step to Crafting:
As mentioned above, I am an Interior Designer professional. I left my job when I started my journey towards a family life. I took up many craft courses at that time. I then took up Fevicryl’s teacher’s course wherein I learnt variety of different crafts. And there began my journey into Crafting. I started off with Murals, Glass painting, Wood painting etc, slowly shifting to paper crafting. I do not even remember how and when did I switched to card making.
Her Inspiration:
The creativity of people around me and everything on the social media inspired me. Whenever I saw anything handmade, I wanted to try it out. Also, there are some awesome people in this industry that make it so easy to understand and learn new things. These people highly inspire me.
Her Most Favourite:
Some of my recent work doing shadow boxes are one of my current favourite projects.
Her Style of Crafting:
I love paper crafting and making CAS cards is my style.
Future Plans:
Frankly, I am scared to look into the future. But someday, I plan to have lots of exhibitions to showcase my work. I would love to see my skills getting transformed into a career. I would also like to go back to teaching children this wonderful art. Teaching kids is fun.
Message for All:
Being a somewhat newbie in this particular field myself, I observe and follow some people and their work. This has helped me know about a lot many things. It has helped me in recognising and knowing about new brands, new techniques and has exposed me to a lot of creativity. I think this is the best way to get going in this field.
