Shabby Chic Altered Bottle + Video by CI Shweta Tapsi Khode

Hello folks!

Shweta here today with my take on August Challenge- Make it Bloom. I've created a shabby chic altered bottle. I must say, this has to be my favourite theme of all times. Simply because I love using flowers on my projects.

I absolutely love altered art, love transforming old useless objects into something useful. Glass bottles are one of my fav bases to work on. They make wonderful home decor.

Here's the list of supplies used and the process in brief:
  • An old glass bottle
  • Immix- Heavy Gesso White, Art Gel Medium, Crackle Texture Paste, Deco Stones, Chest Nut Sprinkle Mist
  • Craftangles Patina Effect Paste- Light Blue and Dark Blue
  • Handmade flowers and other embellishments from my stash

I dabbed white gesso on my bottle to begin with. After that dabbed light blue patina paste all over. I've used a stencil brush here, you may also use sponges. The effect dabbing creates as compared to flat brushes is stunning. It gives a nice, slightly textured look to any surface.

I then applied diluted white gesso all over again to mute down the colour tone of the bottle.

I then used art gel medium to glue some pieces of chipboard on the bottle to form a pattern. Then, mixed some deco stones with crackle texture paste and applied randomly on and around the chipboard pattern.

After drying it out thoroughly, I covered it with white gesso and then used the dark blue patina paste on the pattern.

Applied some white gesso on it again, taking care to blend the edges of the dark blue colour seamlessly in the light blue colour.

Then sprinkled some chest nut brown sprinkle mist here and there to give old and shabby look to the bottle.

Assembled the flowers, die cuts, fussy cuts, tied a twine on the neck and done!!

It was quick really....
