Shabby Chic Photo Frame by Smita Singh

Hi Everyone,
I am Smita and today I am at Prika’s blog with Friday Inspirational Post.… As most of people are confused while using 2 step crackle medium so I thought of making something using it…..
Here it is “Shabby Chic Photo Frame” to cherish your beautiful memories
List of Supplies Used:
# Gesso
# Little birdie 2 step crackel medium
# Mod podge
# Chalk paints ( bubblegum, misty rose, lemon chiffon)
# Decoupage tissue
# Varnish
# Oil paint
# Mudra stamp
# Archival ink
Let's begin with steps of making.
Step:1. First I created a smooth base by applying two coats of gesso on MDF frame.
Step:2. After it dried completely I decided to do adhere 3 ply german tissue on corners of frame with help of mod podge or you can also use decoupage glue by little birdie it is equally good(note we use two step crackle medium after adhering the tissue). It is also important to remove two layers of tissue before adhering it to the surface.

Step:3. Then I sealed it with mod podge. Then by using shades of chalk paints (bubblegum, misty rose and lemon chiffon) I merged it and gave the frame base colour I wanted.

Step:4. After it dried completely I applied base coat of two step crackle medium and let it dry for few hours.I even used hair dryer to fasten the process.
Step:5. After it dried I applied top coat of two step crackle medium. Some areas where I wanted bigger crakes I applied thick layer of top coat. Then I let it dry overnight. (note..Top coat should let dry naturally)
Step:6. After it dried completely we can see the beautiful crackes.our next and most important step is to highlight the cracks. I took little oil paint on my finger tip and started rubbing in circular motion… By this crackes became more visible. After covering the entire area I immediately wiped it with a piece of cloth.
Beautiful cracks can be seen now.
And yes my shabby chic frame with beautiful crackel effect is ready to adorn the wall, picture of my kids added more value to my work.

Hope you all get inspired and like the project, do share your lovely comments for the project, would love to read them from you all.
Thanks for stopping by to read, have a great crafty day ahead.
